The 20th of August is one of the most important national holidays in Hungary – on this day, the country celebrates the establishment of the state by King Saint Stephen. In the wake of the flood disaster on the Tisza River in 2010, this day was marked by solidarity with the victims: at the request of the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Public Administration, we organized an initiative on the said holiday, collecting donations through telephone calls for those affected. The campaign was organized with the support of sponsors, but without state funding.

On the recommendation of our agency the state celebrations were held under the motto ‘The country is one’. As the main instrument of the donation campaign, we created the ‘song of solidarity’ and the associated TV spot as well as the video clip.

Sylvester Lévay contributed the melody to the song, a composer who was awarded the Grammy. The lyrics are contributed by György Szomor and sung by fourteen Hungarian artists. One particularly interesting detail was the composition of the group: The colorful mix of pop musicians, musical performers and folk singers gave out a very important message to the public: In need we are never alone - together we can do everything.

As of August 10, the corresponding video clip was broadcasted by several TV stations in the course of the donation campaign so that more than 20 million forints could be raised for the flood victims.

The charity campaign took place at the request of the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Public Administration.

Sponsors: Mátrai Erőmű (Power Station), Operetta Theatre of Budapest, Müpa Budapest.
