blogeditor 2017.08.02.

Since 2012 it has been forbidden in Hungary to smoke in enclosed rooms - so the government decided in terms of health to protect primarily non-smokers from the consequences of passive smoking.

On behalf of the State Secretariat for Health, it was our task to organize the public communication of this political decision taken. For this purpose, we cooperated with civilian and social organizations, media, pharmacists, as well as restaurants and bars. We received support from the National Health Service (ÁNTSZ), which was mainly responsible for the labeling of smoking areas nationwide. On the other hand, the World Health Organization (WHO) supported us with the communication of international practice by sharing already gained experience in that field.

The campaign could be realized without public financial resources and is therefore based solely on the result of social cooperation. Campaign material was provided by business partners, among others in form communication surfaces of transport companies, restaurants and media partners. The campaign was even spread over the social media channels of our cooperation partners.

The Hungarian Prime Minister was personally honored in 2013 by the WHO President for the effective steps taken against smoking.

The campaign was implemented on behalf of the State Secretariat for Health under the supervision of National Health Service (ANTSZ).

The anti-smoking campaign was ordered by the Department of Health, supervised by ÁNTSZ
